Moviesta ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information, if any, is collected, used, or shared when you use Moviesta.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Moviesta does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use the App.

Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following information locally on your device only:

Favourites list: Movie and TV show IDs, titles, poster image paths, ratings, and dates when you added items
Watchlist: Same fields as Favourites, plus a "watched" status flag
Preferences: Your preferred country code for streaming provider information, appearance settings, and language preference

This data:

Is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework
Is never transmitted to our servers (we have no servers)
Is not backed up to iCloud by the App
Is deleted when you uninstall the App

Automatically Collected Information

We do not collect:

Device identifiers
IP addresses
Usage analytics
Crash reports
Advertising identifiers
Location data

Third-Party API Calls

When you use the App, it sends requests to:

The Movie Database (TMDB) API at api.themoviedb.org — for movie/TV data, images, and metadata
Google Gemini API at generativelanguage.googleapis.com — for AI-powered search query processing (AI Finder feature)

These requests include your search queries and a static API authentication token (not linked to your identity). These requests are governed by their respective privacy policies:

Moviesta does not store, log, or process the data from these requests beyond displaying it to you in the App.

How We Use Information

We do not use any information because we do not collect any information.

Information Sharing

We do not share any information with third parties because we do not collect any information.

Data Security

All communications between the App and third-party APIs are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Your on-device data is protected by iOS's standard app sandboxing.

Children's Privacy

Moviesta does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). Since the App collects no personal information from anyone, this requirement is inherently satisfied.

Subscriptions

Moviesta offers optional premium subscriptions (monthly and yearly) managed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not process or store any payment information. All billing is handled by Apple. See Apple's terms for details.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
