Grindly is built to help you lock in — privately. In short: everything core runs on your device, we don't require an account, your Screen Time selections are anonymous tokens we literally cannot read, and we don't sell your data.
Your grind tasks, block profiles, lock-in sessions, day records, and streak history are stored locally on your device. We do not upload or back up this data to our servers.
When you choose apps or categories to block, iOS (via Apple's Family Controls framework) hands Grindly opaque tokens — not names. Grindly cannot see which specific apps you selected. The blocking itself is performed on-device by Apple's Screen Time system; no selection data leaves your device.
If you turn on photo verification for a task (a premium feature), the photo is sent to our secure proxy for a single yes/no verdict on whether the task looks done, then it is immediately discarded. It is never stored by us and never used to train anything. This feature is off by default and capped by a hard monthly quota.
The optional AI coach sends only text — your streak length and completion rate — to our proxy (which calls Google's Gemini API) to return a short motivational nudge. No images are sent, and there is no image generation anywhere in Grindly. This feature is premium and hard-capped each month.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple provides anonymous transaction status to unlock premium features.
Grindly may record anonymous, aggregate product events (for example, that a lock-in session was started) to improve the app. These events are not tied to your identity and contain no personal content.
You can export or permanently delete all of your data at any time from Settings in the app.
Grindly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
